Modern Quilting is the rage that is bringing a whole new crop of quilters to our obsession, so what is it?
It probably defies a neat description but if you google it (or look here, I've done it for you) you'll see some amazing quilts. Some use plains, some are really architectural, there are bright colours and muted colours. There is plenty of overlap with traditional quilts, but there is something different too.
I grabbed this one below, as just one example, striking, I hope you'll agree. I also found it on an interesting blog on Modern Quilting that is worth a read.
Carolyn's will continue to be the place for Reproduction Fabrics, make no mistake, but if you want to dabble in the Modern, we have a great range of plains, and fresh toned stripes and spots!

Here are three quilts that Lorraine is working on.
The first was begun in a class with Shelley based on Carolyn's pattern for charm squares 'Pure Charm'.
A quilt for a new grandaughter.
And lastly, some lovely soft Batiks coming together.
Wendy shared a lovely work in progress, using a pattern called 'Life is Beautiful'. A lovely combination of patchwork and stitchery, and Wendy's blue colourway is lovely.

It has been a while, but the girls at Carolyn's never disappoint. There has been some lovely work being done! Here is the quilt Margaret is working on for her grandaughter's 21st. It's a stunner!

Its the first thing you spot when you walk in the shop!
Jan has done an update on Carolyn's Clotworthy Journey Crib Quilt. I loved the original but this fresh version in Moda's Happy Go Lucky range by Bonnie and Camilla is a lovely thing!
We are carrying fat 1/8th packs for $99 with metreage of some of the range.
There is also a limited number of the patterns, Zipper and Juggle for this range (and for any other range you fancy of course!), as shown below.

Great news from Perth. Carolyn has spent the journey stitching and another 2 rounds are complete for the 1797 Sundial Coverlet!
If you can get to the Perth Quilt and Craft Show you will be one of the first to see it hanging on stand G25.
The rest of us will have to make do with a photo.

There are some gorgeous colours in Windham's, Virginia by Williamsburg.
And before I go, here are a couple of Windham's Haberdashery. The dark one is just perfect for borders or broderie perse, while the other would make a lovely background fabric.
I hope there is enough inspiration here, but if you need any more, consider getting Di Ford's beautiful book!
