Redecorating Carolyn's Quilting Room

I can't take any credit for all the effort but there is nothing nicer than arriving at Carolyn's on my Mondays than finding that Carolyn and Shelley have been redecorating.

This of course means some lovely quilts go away, but new ones appear!

Enjoy a look around the classroom with me.

This last quilt (above on left) is a particular favourite of mine. Carolyn has given it a real 50's feel with the particular shade of green she has chosen. The fabric range is Moda's Fandango and the quilt used one Layer Cake.

Prairie Crossing Arrives

This is a gorgeous range that this quick snap doesn't quite do justice, to get a better look go to the Wyndham Fabric's website.

 

Their free project for this range looks pretty good and we will be putting kits together for it soon.

A Beginner's class with a difference

Recently arrived from Hungary, Anna-Maria is learning english as well as patchworking.

The 'old' beginners and the 'new' beginners combined to make her birthday a special one.

There was even time to show off some carefully hand pieced blocks, well done girls.

Block of the Month Pages Published

I have just updated the details on all Carolyn's Blocks of the Month and given each its own page on the side bar to the right of the Blog space.

Hopefully this will make the information clearer and I can better display photos. I am keen to keep the pages updated with student's photos too.

Above is just such an example. Jean started the Aunt Green Coverlet at Quiltworks in January and sent this shot of her lovely take on the quilt. It looks fresh enough to eat!

Clever Patchworkers

Just for inspiration, here are some of the results of some of our clever students and customers.

Valerie finally completed her 10,434 half inch hexagon quilt. What can I say?!

Lynne showed us a lovely take on Carolyn's Wilfred and Cloves Design. The reds look fantastic.

 

And last but not least, this is Neeska's Farmer's Wife Quilt in the making. Believe it or not - this is Neeska's first quilt!

Hope this is enough inspiration for one blog!

New Class List

Ok, so it looks like I have been very slack on the blog front but it has actually taken me a whole week to get the Class List Page at the right up to date. This has not been helped by having recently changed to a Mac from a PC.

Despite the frustrations I have been excited to pick up some new skills. Click on the links for Farmer's Wife, or the Charm Square Saturday class to see my photo collages.

Choosing Border and Sashing Fabric

This isn't one of Carolyn's design's but when Diane brought her quilt in to choose border and sashing fabrics it was a great way to demonstrate just how useful the digital camera can be to help make fabric choices.

Here are some of the potential choices.

Tough decision but doesn't each fabric have a different effect on the look of the quilt?

The digital camera is a great way to get a bird's eye view too.

Farmer's Wife Progress
